Pride Month exists for a reason. And that reason, even with all of the begrudgingly bestowed rights recently granted, still persists. Hatred comes in many forms — and oppression, both minor and catastrophic, occur daily. 

The murder of those in the community (and I refer to not only mass shootings, but the murders of individual queer people that are regularly carried out, whether or not the mainstream wants to acknowledge them) are not a platform for politics, or a chance to point the blame elsewhere. The problem is not coming from a foreign source, it’s not coming from anywhere. It is here, and has always been here. 

The one shining beacon is our tenacity. Our Pride flags are as colorful & diverse as the people they represent. They are bright, and fluid, and resilient. We are bold. We stand out. We don’t shrink away, and we are most powerful when we stand together.
